ORGANIZATION
    Our Governance

The FIBA General Statutes and Internal Regulations form the foundation of FIBA's mission. Designed to meet the evolving global basketball, sporting and political landscape, the core principles and structures established when FIBA was founded in 1932 remain. One of those is the National Federation members, who are the primary members of FIBA and govern the sport as a collective. Holding equal voting rights, they constitute the supreme authority known as the Congress. Consequently, structures and decisions within FIBA either directly or indirectly rely on the 212 National Federations.

Four main entities lead the FIBA governance structure:

    The Central Board

    The President

    The Secretary General

    The Commissions

Since 2014, the organization has operated an inclusive and dynamic management model. A newly established FIBA Executive Committee, appointed by the Central Board, initiated transformational changes, which included establishing Regional FIBA Offices in strategic locations that could better serve National Member Federations.

With FIBA colleagues also benefiting from closer integration globally, a dedicated FIBA Management Team led by the Secretary General, has ensured the sport has capitalized on exciting strategic growth opportunities.
