2026 marks a bold new chapter for the “Her World, Her Rules” initiative

Her World Her Rules continues to grow, now uniting with the FIBA Foundation’s Propose a Project program ahead of March 1, 2026 applications deadline.

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA's highly successful Her World, Her Rules (HWHR) program is poised to make an even bigger impact in 2026 as it integrates FIBA Foundation's Propose a Project Platform under the Basketball For Gender Equality category.

This union brings together two of FIBA’s most impactful grassroots efforts, combining HWHR’s focus on empowering women and girls in basketball with Propose a Project’s wide-reaching support for innovative community programs.

An essential component of FIBA's strategic priority, Women In Basketball, the HWHR initiative has already seen more than 180,000 girls positively impacted globally, while the Propose a Project program has impacted over 64,000 people annually.

The partnership aims to maximize resources, amplify impact, and create new opportunities for National Federations and NGOs interested in designing and undertaking projects that support its mission to create awareness and foster basketball development for girls and women globally.

FIBA remains committed to increasing the number of girls participating in Her World, Her Rules (HWHR), ensuring that the initiative’s legacy continues to grow and thrive under the lead of the FIBA Foundation.

Consequently, the Basketball For Good projects of National Federations (NFs) located in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania will be evaluated based on the quality of proposals and the anticipated impact on each Federation’s Women in Basketball strategy and the local community itself.

Therefore, NFs desiring to continue, expand, or start their HWHR projects are invited to submit their applications on the Propose a Project platform under the Basketball For Gender Equality category by March 1. Federations with other Basketball For Good projects are welcome to apply for other categories as well.

The guidelines can be found here.

In Europe, where Her World, Her Rules was originally launched, the program is already in a two-year funding cycle, which concludes this year. A new application for European federations only will open at the end of February 2026 for the next two years. For more information on HWHRs in Europe, click here.
