The 'Her World, Her Rules' (HWHR) initiative is FIBA's largest and most recognized grassroots program globally. An exciting and unique project, it has an extensive and incredible track record of successfully raising awareness and promoting women's and girls' basketball across the globe.
This is achieved via various activities which are delivered in partnership with National Federations and promoted across social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Designed to unite women and girls through basketball, it is mainly focused on girls aged 6-15 years old.
The program is an integral part of FIBA delivering on its Women in Basketball strategic priority, with HWHR a key driver in both amplifying women's basketball globally and increasing the participation of girls in basketball.
The success and impact of the #HerWorldHerRules initiative is no better highlighted than the staggering 120,000 girls who participated in the previous cycle, prior to 2024. This witnessed activations taking place globally across all five FIBA regions.
Since its initial launch in 2018, the program has been supported by some of the best current and former players in the women’s global game. It has been endorsed by the likes of Emma Meesseman, Breanna Stewart, Gabby Williams, Alba Torrens and Sonja Vasic. It is also a campaign widely promoted via EuroLeague Women.
It has also previously had support from FIBA’s Global Partner TCL, who activated an’ Inspire Greatness’ initiative around the last FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in 2022 in Australia.
National Federations are encouraged each year to apply to be part of this program, with successful applicants receiving advice and funding to help support their development efforts. During the previous campaign cycle, more than half of all National Federations in the world (119) received project funding.
