ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The annual FIBA Africa Regional Youth Camp is back!
This four-day training camp for young people under the age of 16 will take place in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, in October.
This will be the second time that the Palais des Sports de Treichville in the Ivorian city has hosted the event since 2024.
The girls' camp runs from 15–18 October and the boys' camp from 21–24 October.
Forty girls and boys from twenty African countries, including fifteen local players and fifteen coaches from across the continent looking to improve their skills, will train under the watchful eye of FIBA and NBA experts.
The coaching sessions will include classroom and on-court training. The girls' camp director, Naoufal Uariach, will be joined by Isabel Fernandez from Spain as camp leaders.
Fernandez, also known as Coach Moses, led Spain to second place in the 2026 FIBA U17 Women's Basketball Cup in the Czech Republic earlier this year.
FIBA instructor Joe Touomou will serve as Camp Director for the boys' event.
This is the sixth FIBA Africa Regional Youth Camp since its inception in 2021.
Previous host countries include Kenya and Senegal (2021), Madagascar and Morocco (2022), Mali and Rwanda (2023), Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire (2024), and Egypt (2025).
The training programme focuses on improving participants' individual and collective skills while promoting values such as teamwork, hard work and dedication.
Designed to maximise U16 African talent, this FIBA-NBA camp will see some participants go on to take part in the next edition of Basketball Without Borders.
In addition to technical and physical skills, FIBA Africa aims to instil the values of solidarity and community in the young participants, as these are essential for their sporting and personal success.
