MIES (Switzerland) – A new tranche of FIBA-Licensed Agents has taken an opportunity to play an important role in maintaining the integrity and fairness in the sport's global ecosystem.
No fewer than 46 candidates attended the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball to sit the formal test, with a total of 42 participants successfully qualifying and now able to operate as FIBA-Licensed Agents.
The group attending the session was made up of the usual diverse blend of backgrounds and nationalities, with 31 different countries represented, all from a variety of professional backgrounds.
The main areas covered within the test focused on the eligibility of players, international transfers, anti-doping and registration. There were also questions relating to regulations governing players' agents, letters of clearance, and the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT). Additionally, all candidates are expected to hold a strong knowledge on all FIBA regulatory frameworks, and particularly the FIBA Code of Conduct.
Kim Gaucher, Head of the Players Unit at FIBA, stated: "The pool of agents worldwide continues to expand, and as an integral part of the basketball ecosystem, they all have the opportunity to positively impact the growth of the global game.
"It's essential that FIBA continues to educate agents and to provide this accreditation. It ensures each individual agent can successfully recognize and demonstrate how vital the rules governing international basketball are.
"Not only this, but also the importance of delivering ethical professionalism in their respective actions - as well as understanding the role FIBA has in successfully governing the sport."
Meanwhile, those present were also able to visit FIBA's outstanding Naismith Arena, a 1,000-square-meter space that offers a unique insight into the evolution of basketball and the sport's rich history.
The FIBA-Licensed Agent test in Mies, Switzerland, follows a session held in Manila, Philippines, in January 2026, which welcomed 50 candidates. Two additional events are scheduled later this year: the first in Miami, USA, on June 26, and the second in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on August 12.
