Nestle MILO to boost Basketball For Good Program in Indonesia

Powered by the FIBA Foundation's Basketball for Good program, Nestle MILO aims to drive positive impact and accelerate basketball's growth across Indonesia.

JAKARTA (Indonesia) - FIBA Indonesia today announced that Nestle MILO will support the development of youth basketball across the country through the Basketball For Good program.

Built on the FIBA Foundation's Basketball For Good initiative and inspired by Nestle MILO's ethos of Energi Tanpa Batas (The Unlimited Energy), the collaboration represents a shared commitment to positive impact and long-term growth of the sport across Indonesia, aligning with FIBA's strategic objective to develop youth basketball.

The commitment was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on May 6, 2026 and aims to provide basketball training to 100 teachers and 3,000 elementary school students across 100 schools in Banten, Makassar, Lubuk Linggau, Kendari, and Samarinda from July to November 2026.

This collaboration also seeks to create sustainable social impact by leveraging sport as a platform for character development and youth empowerment.

The signing ceremony took place in FIBA's Country Office in Indonesia.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was carried out by FIBA Chief Operating Officer Patrick Mariller, with Alaa Shaaban, Marketing Manager, Beverages & Confectionery Business Unit, PT Nestle Indonesia, and was witnessed by FIBA Treasurer Ingo Weiss and FIBA Central Board Member Erick Thohir, at FIBA's Indonesia Office in Menara Danareksa – Jakarta.

Alaa Shaaban, Marketing Manager, Beverages & Confectionery Business Unit of PT NestleIndonesia, said: "For more than five decades in Indonesia, Nestle MILO has consistently promoted a healthy, active, and resilient lifestyle through various sports initiatives and programs for the Indonesian community.

"We hope that this collaboration with FIBA Indonesia will support the holistic development of Indonesian children, enabling them to reach their full potential, while also contributing to the government's efforts to foster a healthier and more active society from an early age. Nestle MILO believes that sport is the best teacher, instilling life values such as sportsmanship, confidence, perseverance, and teamwork."

The 5th Basketball For Good program in Indonesia took place in the Maluku province earlier this year.

"As part of the global FIBA Foundation initiative, Basketball For Good is founded on the belief that sport can empower, educate and inspire communities – particularly youth. Through this approach, the Basketball For Good programs leverage basketball not only as a competitive sport, but also as a means of improving physical health, and as a platform for raising awareness of social issues, building healthy and resilient communities, fostering discipline, and developing teamwork and self-confidence.

"In Indonesia, we have seen how an approach that combines basketball training with life skills education can help children overcome various challenges, as well as build their character.

"We hope that this collaboration with Nestle MILO will create meaningful and sustainable change for Indonesia's younger generation," said FIBA Chief Operating Officer Patrick Mariller.

The implementation of this program is carried out in collaboration with the Indonesian Basketball Federation, PERBASI (Persatuan BolaBasket Seluruh Indonesia), to ensure readiness and sustainability at the regional level.
