MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA has agreed a partnership with Kuehne+Nagel to continue as FIBA Official Global Logistics Supplier for another three years. The agreement builds on the success of a first term that began in 2023 and during which Kuehne+Nagel enhanced the quality of logistical operations for FIBA events.
One partnership milestone is the reduction of FIBA's global carbon footprint. The commitment to sustainable logistics solutions will remain at the heart of the extended partnership, in line with FIBA's strategic objectives in terms of Sustainability and Innovation.
Under the agreement, Kuehne+Nagel will again provide logistics assistance for major FIBA global and continental competitions, including the highly anticipated FIBA Basketball World Cup events for both men and women, being held in Germany this year and in Qatar next year.
Beyond competitions, Kuehne+Nagel's support will extend across the broader FIBA ecosystem, helping National Federations, Local Organizing Committees, partners, and other stakeholders deliver their objectives, while also contributing to initiatives led by the FIBA Foundation.
They have already played a part in the successful transportation of the original 88-year-old South American Championship Trophy to its new home at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies.
Frank Leenders, Director General of FIBA Media and Marketing Services, comments: "We are delighted to be able to extend our collaboration for another three years, especially as one of the main aims for both parties from the outset was to develop a long-term collaboration.
"With increasingly complex logistical challenges across the globe, it's important that we are able to count on a FIBA Official Supplier like Kuehne+Nagel, who have shown they can deliver for FIBA and for National Federations with sustainable logistics solutions."
Meanwhile, Jorn Schneemann, Global Head of Expo and Event Logistics at Kuehne+Nagel, says: "We are proud to continue our partnership with FIBA and bring our expertise to basketball events around the world.
"By managing the complex logistics behind international competitions, we aim to support FIBA in delivering world-class events and creating memorable experiences for the global basketball community."
