DAKAR (Senegal) - Federation Senegalaise de BasketBall (FSBB) has welcomed the support of the FIBA Plus initiative as they look to develop what could be an exciting and transformational Sporting Strategic Plan for the next three years.

It's the first time that the FSBB has engaged with FIBA Plus, which assists National Federations in developing strategies to enhance their ability to organize, professionalize, and commercialize basketball activities, including offering planning and implementation support to all members. FIBA Plus is an important and key element of FIBA's own strategic priority to Empower National Federations.

Dedicated FIBA Plus team members applied their knowledge and skills to tailor bespoke Strategic Planning Support to meet the needs of the FSBB. Much of the highly successful collaboration was seen during a three-day workshop in Dakar, which was attended by 20 representatives from the FSBB.

Thanks to open and constructive exchanges with FIBA experts, we were able to identify key areas for improvement and development - FSBB President, Babacar Ndiaye.

As part of the process to help the FSBB set out its vision and shape its three-year Sporting Strategic Plan, an analysis was carried out by FIBA experts. This involved 1:1 interviews with the FSBB President, Vice President, Secretary General, Technical Director, Members and Presidents of various Commissions (Leagues, Finance, Referees, Players, Communications).

Additionally, a number of online surveys were conducted with players, coaches, referees, clubs, and fans, with more than 300 responses received and underlining the clear appetite to shape an exciting future for the sport in Senegal.

A three day FIBA Plus Strategic Planning Support workshop took place in the capital with the FSBB.

The goals of the FSBB focused on growing Mini Basketball, the development of coaches and referees, as well as talent identification. Consequently, capacity-building sessions were initiated and led by FIBA experts on mini basketball and talent identification.

"FIBA Plus has served as a major strategic lever for the FSBB in structuring its vision and goals for a sporting strategy," confirmed FSBB President Babacar Ndiaye.

"Thanks to open and constructive exchanges with FIBA experts, we were able to identify key areas for improvement and development, taking into account our national context.
