MUNICH (Germany) - Norwegian Basketball Federation (NBBF) President Jan Hendrik Parmann and Secretary General Axel Langaker visited the FIBA Europe headquarters on Tuesday.
FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa and FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak provided their guests with an update on European basketball current affairs.
The two sides then discussed a wide range of topics related to the sport in the Nordic country, with the agenda revolving around development projects and long-term strategy.
The FIBA Plus program, which aims to empower national federations through development initiatives, was a focal point of the meeting.
Women’s Basketball and 3x3 were focal points, while the two sides also discussed matters related to the prerequisites that apply to the hosting of FIBA Europe competitions.
The visit came at a special moment in Norwegian basketball history, as 2026 marks the 60-year anniversary of the very first international appearance of the Norwegian national team, in a friendly game against Iceland.
Today, the sport is increasingly popular among young people in the Nordic country, with the Norwegian men’s and women’s youth national teams competing this summer in their respective FIBA U16 and U18 EuroBasket Division B tournaments.
