    Maltese Basketball Association marks 60th anniversary with awards evening

    The future stars and legends of Maltese basketball were honored on the special occasion

    The special event was held to celebrate the anniversary and reflect on the growth of basketball in Malta.

    VALLETTA (Malta) - The Maltese Basketball Association celebrated its 60th anniversary with a special awards evening.

    As part of the event, Ian Felice Pace of Starlites Naxxar and Depiro's Kristy Galea claimed the Men's and Women's Player of the Year honors, respectively, to headline the award winners.

    MBA President Paul Sultana addressed the attendees, which also included Clifton Grima - Malta's Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation - and FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis as FIBA's representative at the event.

    They also reflected on the past achievements and continued growth of basketball in Malta, recognizing several individuals for their contributions to the sport in the country.

    This past summer saw Malta claim silver medals at the 2024 Men's and Women's European Championships for Small Countries.
