Inclusion took center stage at EuroLeague Women Final Six

    Short Read

At the EuroLeague Women Final Six, a Basketball For Good clinic brought players and Special Olympics beneficiaries together.

ZARAGOZA (Spain) - On the occasion of the first edition of the EuroLeague Women Final Six, Basket Zaragoza Foundation and the FIBA Foundation have joined forces to promote inclusion.

From April 9 to 13, history was made as the EuroLeague Women organized its inaugural Final Six at the Pabellon Principe Felipe in Zaragoza, Spain.

In addition to hosting the tournament, Casademont Zaragoza, through its foundation, teamed up with the FIBA Foundation and Special Olympics Aragon to strengthen the social impact and legacy of the event.

This collaboration translated into a Basketball For Good clinic with beneficiaries from Special Olympics Aragon and ATADES, a local partner from the Zaragoza Basket Foundation.

The clinic allowed the participants to engage in fun and playful basketball activities to discover the joy of the game, with EuroLeague Women players, such as Ezi Magbegor from ZVVZ USK Praha, İdil Saçalır from Fenerbahce Opet, and Stephanie Mawuli from Casademont Zaragoza, joining the action.

When asked how basketball could help someone grow off the court, Final Six All-Star Five, presented by Iberia member Ezi Magbegor shared insights from her journey:

“Basketball has given me a lot of confidence. Growing up, I was a pretty shy kid, and it really helped me come out of my shell. So, I am really grateful to basketball.”

    Ezi Magbegor

The clinic echoed Magbegor's words, as the initiative gave the participants more confidence through shared laughs and smiles with the players, who supported and uplifted them throughout the day.

Through its partnership with Molten, the FIBA Foundation provided basketballs to help run the clinic and continues to demonstrate its commitment to using basketball as a tool to initiate positive change.

Looking ahead, the Foundation aims to support and run similar initiatives at future FIBA events, further enhancing the sport’s social legacy and promoting inclusion around the world.

This project also forms part of the global partnership between the FIBA Foundation and Special Olympics, highlighting a shared mission to promote inclusion through the power of sport.
