    FIBA’s European leadership visits Italian Federation HQ

    The cordial meeting was held at the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) offices in Rome.

    ROME (Italy) - FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa and FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak held a one-day meeting with FIP President Giovanni Petrucci and FIP Secretary General Maurizio Bertea in the Italian capital Rome on Wednesday.

    The visit provided the two delegations with the chance to discuss a wide array of topics, ranging from those of pan-European interest to some more specific to Italian basketball and its future projects.

    The discussions also included the evolving landscape of club competitions in Europe as well as matters related to national teams. Italy enjoyed a highly promising summer of in FIBA competitions in 2025, headlined by the podium success at the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket in June.

    Mr. Garbajosa and Mr. Novak expressed FIBA’s interest and commitment to FIP’s plans for the continued improvement of the Italian basketball structure, while Mr. Petrucci reiterated the Italian Federation’s full support to FIBA’s governance policies.
