RIGA (Latvia) - The FIBA EuroBasket 2025 groups are now set after the highly anticipated draw was concluded in the Latvian capital Riga on Thursday.
The 24 participating nations discovered their opponents for the upcoming 42nd edition of the flagship event after being sorted into four groups, according to the seedings which were based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by NIKE.
FIBA EuroBasket legends Rudy Fernandez, a four-time champion and Ambassador of the event, and Nikos Zisis, who won the competition in 2005, assisted in drawing the teams into their respective groups in Cyprus, Finland, Poland, and Latvia.
Among those in attendance at the event, hosted by the Latvian Basketball Association, were Latvia's Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis, Mayor of Riga Vilnis Kirsis, FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa, FIBA President Sheikh Saud Ali Al Thani, FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak, as well as delegations from the four co-hosts.
The groups are as follows:
Group A: Serbia, Latvia, Czechia, Türkiye, Estonia, Portugal Group B: Germany, Lithuania, Montenegro, Finland, Great Britain, Sweden Group C: Spain, Greece, Italy, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus Group D: France, Slovenia, Poland, Israel, Belgium, Iceland
The four co-hosts were pre-assigned to their respective groups with Group A played in Riga, Latvia; Group B in Tampere, Finland; Group C in Limassol, Cyprus, and Group D in Katowice, Poland.
Each co-host was also able to select a partner country to be placed in the same group with agreements reached between Latvia and Estonia, Finland and Lithuania, Cyprus and Greece as well as Poland and Iceland.
FIBA EuroBasket 2025 gets underway with the Group Phase played from August 27 - September 5, before the Final Phase is held solely in the Latvian capital Riga from September 6-14.
