RIGA (Latvia) - The first milestone on the road to FIBA EuroBasket 2029 has been completed after the draw for the First Round of Pre-Qualifiers took place, on Monday morning.
While FIBA EuroBasket 2025 is reaching the critical stages in the Latvian capital, the 10 national teams participating in the Pre-Qualifiers now know their fate for the start of their journey towards the next edition.
The teams had been seeded in accordance to the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by NIKE, and were split into three groups; with four teams in Group A and three teams each in Groups B and C.
The draw results are as follows:
Group A: North Macedonia, Ireland, Luxembourg, Azerbaijan Group B: Bulgaria, Norway, Armenia Group C: Slovakia, Kosovo, Albania
The First Round of the Pre-Qualifiers will be played across three windows: November 2025, February 2026, and June-July 2026.
Four teams - the three group winners and the best-ranked runners-up will advance to the Second Round where they will join eight teams from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers First Round.
