BEIRUT (Lebanon)- The FIBA Regional Office-Asia continued its effort to further the development of game officiating in the region with a referee clinic each in Bhutan and Laos recently.
Twenty-one participants attended the clinic organised under the aegis of Bhutan Basketball Federation in Thimphu from Oct 9-11, 2025, while 30 aspirants attended the clinic at Vientiane held under Laos Basketball Federation from Oct 12-14, 2025.
“The Referee Clinic has positioned the BBF well to build a stronger base of qualified officials. The passion of the participants, coupled with the positive internal and external reflections, confirms the Federation's successful execution of the event and its commitment to sports development in the country,” said Sonam Tobgay Secretary General of the BBF.
“On behalf of the Lao Basketball Federation, I extend our deepest gratitude for the invaluable support in organizing the FIBA Asia Referee Clinic in Laos,” said Litthideth Khamhoung, Secretary General of LBF.
“The expertise and dedication of the FIBA instructor were instrumental in elevating the skills and knowledge of our local referees. This initiative is a cornerstone for developing basketball officiating in our country and will significantly raise the standard of our domestic competitions,” he said.
