BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office - Asia has announced schedule for Round 1 of the much awaited FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) - West Asia League 2024/2025.
Originally slated to be played on a home-away basis the league’s schedule and format was adjusted as a result of ongoing challenges and uncertainties in the region.
Five teams now compete in a single-group round-robin format – played over two rounds – with the team accumulating the most points across the two rounds crowned as the FIBA WASL West Asia League 2024/2025 Champions.
The First Round will be played from March 4–9 and the Second Round from April 8–13. Beirut will host both the tournaments.
Reigning BCL Asia champions Al Riyadi alongside fellow Lebanese club Sagesse lead the fray that also features three debutants: Tabiat (Iran), Difaa Al Jawi SC (Iraq), and Amman United (Jordan).
The top three teams from the league will earn direct qualification to the FIBA WASL 2024/2025 Final 8, scheduled for May 2025, from where teams will qualify for BCL Asia.
