BEIRUT (Lebanon)- The FIBA Regional Office-Asia’s efforts of empowering the National Federations continued with gusto with the conduct of the FIBA Statisticians workshop in Vietnam the past week.
The workshop held under the aegis of the Vietnam Basketball Federation was attended by 34 aspirants. FIBA Statistics Instructor Sirawit Sarasom of Thailand conducted the sessions which included topics from the FIBA Statisticians’ Manual 2024 and the implementation of FIBA LiveStats software at the workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City on June 26-27, 2026.
“The FIBA Statistics Workshop was a valuable learning experience that enhanced both my knowledge and my understanding of the responsibilities of a FIBA Statistician,” said Dong Minh Thanh Truc.
“The workshop provided clear explanations, practical examples, and interactive discussions that helped me better understand the principles of basketball statistics and the importance of accuracy, consistency, and teamwork in delivering reliable game statistics,” he added.
“I believe this workshop has broadened my perspective and strengthened my commitment to continuous learning and professional development. The knowledge and skills I gained will help me perform my duties with greater confidence and contribute more effectively to future basketball events,” he said.
“I highly appreciate the interactive learning environment,” said Le Vo Son Nam.
“Participants were encouraged to engage in group discussions, analyze game footage, and handle practical situations. This approach significantly enhanced my understanding of the rules and my on-court decision-making,” he added.
“The hands-on practice helped me build confidence in using the software,” said Hoang Ngoc Linh.
“I found the training informative, engaging, and useful, and I look forward to applying these skills in future basketball events." -
