    Focus on development, improving competition and organisational structure in SABA NF

    BEIRUT (Lebanon)- A FIBA Regional Office-Asia delegation visited Pakistan this week and held meetings with various stakeholders in the sport administration in the South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) National Federation.

    The delegation was led by FIBA Executive Director-Asia Mr. Hagop Khajirian.

    FIBA delegation held its meetings with the officials of the Pakistan Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Sport and the Pakistan Basketball Federation at Lahore and Islamabad.

    “Empowering National Federations is one of FIBA’s strategic pillars,” said Mr. Khajirian during his meetings.

    “We acknowledge the significance of Pakistan as an important National Federation in our region,” he added.

    “We had very productive and fruitful discussions with the sport family in Pakistan on measures that need to be taken to bring Pakistan on the international basketball map with the importance it deserves,” he said.

    “The response from all the stake holders has been very encouraging,” Mr. Khajirian added.

    “The FIBA Regional Office – Asia reiterates its commitment to stand in support of the development of basketball in Pakistan and we are sure we made a very good start with these meetings,” he added.

    Brig. Muhammad Iftikhar Mansoor President PBF, Mr. Khalid Bashir Secretary General PBF and Mr. Ouj E Zahoor Associate Secretary General PBF and also a member of the SABA Coordination Council attended all the meetings.
