The inaugural Women’s Basketball League Asia played in October 2024, and the overwhelming response it received from fans – the final game being watched by 2.7 million viewers online added to the 8,000 spectators on court was applauded.

The Board noted that the growth of leagues and the launch of Women’s Basketball League – Asia was well directed towards achieving the other two of FIBA pillars – Women in Basketball and Shaping International Club Competitions.

The Board meeting also laid out a clear road map to execute this year’s FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Shenzhen (China) setting goals for unprecedented standards in the presentation and implementation of the two flagship events.
