Enthusiasm and eagerness mark the WABC coaching clinic in Dubai, executed by FIBA's Regional Office in Asia.

BEIRUT (Lebanon) – There was an overwhelming sense of enthusiasm to participate and an eagerness to enhance their capabilities in the WABC Level Course 2 organised by FIBA’s Asia Regional Office by its National Federation & Sport department in Dubai during the past week.

The course held under the auspices of the United Arab Emirates National Federation was attended by 15 coaches, all of whom had cleared the WABC Level 1 at one stage in their career. FIBA Asia’s WABC qualified instructor Mounir Ben Slimane conducted the practical and training sessions of the course.

Joanah Nabisenke, a participant, thanked FIBA for the initiative.

“Thank you FIBA for such a great opportunity to us,” she said.

“I am so happy I took this course. It’s been the best course ever. It’s very informative, educative and really an eye opener. Every coach deserves to attend such courses because enables coaches to develop mentally and also develop global players,” she added.

The educational experience of the course was reflected in many other participants too.

“I learned a lot more than ever before. The amount of detailed information that I got the course which gave us lots was very useful,” said Ashraf Sharaf-Addin.

In my experience as a coach, I have learned that no matter how many years of coaching you have done, there’s always room to learn,” said Matar Al Suwaidi.

“This course is another step in that direction to improve my knowledge and learn new coaching skills and strategies that I can emphasize while on the court,” he added.

While thanking the UAE Basketball Association for their conduct of the course, Ashraf Sharaf-Addin said, “I lived the learning experience at its finest especially transitioning from theoretical knowledge into practical implementation.”

Matar Al Suwaidi echoed: “Being able to revise whatever I have learnt so far, this course helped me a lot to reflect and learn a lot on a daily basis.”

FIBA Regional Office Asia will continue its endeavour to upgrade the skills of coaches the region with more such courses in the coming year.
