THE PATRICK BAUMANN HOUSE OF BASKETBALL

Our global headquarters are based in Mies, Switzerland overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. It incorporates the FIBA Conference Centre, the FIBA Hall of Fame, the Naismith Arena, and the Pedro Ferrandiz Library.

Inaugurated on 18 June 2013 and formerly the ‘FIBA House of Basketball’, the Central Board took the decision in 2018 to honor the late and widely revered FIBA Secretary General, Patrick Baumann by adding his name.

Spanning an 8,500 metre plot, the building is laid out in the shape of a hand, a significant symbol of FIBA's visual identity. This distinctive design is visible from the air when approaching Geneva Airport - only a 10-minute car journey away.

It also incorporates a steel structure resembling the interwoven pattern of a basketball net. It was constructed to the highest standards of sustainability by Swiss label MINERGIE-ECO® for an energy-efficient building. This includes 300 square metres of solar panels.

Meanwhile visitors are welcomed by a 3x3 basketball court providing a ‘red carpet’ to the building’s entrance. There’s a restaurant, a Conference Centre with eight state-of-the-art conference rooms, while the showpiece is the 1,000 square metre Naismith Arena - a ground floor exhibition space including the FIBA Hall of Fame.

A museum contains more than 40,000 objects representing basketball’s history and culture inherited by the Pedro Ferrandiz Foundation in Madrid, while the library has more than 7,000 basketball books in over 20 languages.

Our headquarters also regularly host exhibitions, and special events including competition draws and other ceremonies.

The building is managed by the FIBA Foundation.
