BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office - Asia in coordination with the United Arab Emirates Basketball Association successfully organized World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) Level 1 coaching courses in Dubai.

The course, conducted by WABC instructor Mounir Ben Slimane, was held in back-to-back sessions from 9 - 20 December.

The diverse group of participants were grateful and learned a lot from the extensive course held over 10 days in the country.

One of the participants Ahmed Redha said: “The course was very useful and very well organized. I gained a lot of information about basketball as a coach and as a player, and its added to my experience. This course was worth my time and it was really a good time I spent on something I love. I'm looking forward to attend the next one as soon as possible.”

Marcelo Correa added: “The course was amazing. It was a great mix between the instructor's vast experience and interaction with the other coaches.”

The course started with classroom sessions and was followed by on-court sessions to help the participants implement the information they received.

Darryl Middleton: “This was a great course. The coach did a great job explaining everything. I will take all the learnings he gave us to my future job as a coach wherever it may be.”

Bryan Urot: “This course opens a lot of windows and doors for me and hopefully in the future I can give back to the grassroots whether it’s here in the UAE or back in the Philippines."

These courses are part of the Regional Office’s continuous efforts to improve the National Federations, including the coaches, who are an integral part of basketball games.
