TALLINN (Estonia) – There are few happenings as massive and vibrant as the FIBA Europe U14 Get-Together.
It has by now become a steady fixture in the FIBA calendar, and certainly an eagerly anticipated event every October for young players, youth coaches and every basketball professional working in youth development in Europe.
The Estonian Basketball Federation hosted the 2026 edition in capital Tallinn from Friday October 9 through Sunday October 11, in conjunction with a meeting between the partners of the Erasmus co-funded project Hoops for Schools, and a FIBA Europe Youth Commission meeting.
FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa presided over the Commission’s seventh meeting in this term, and attended part of the Get-Together, alongside FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak.
The 2026 edition of the U14 Get-Together was once again held over three days, comprising a host of clinics for coaches focusing on U14-age group players.
Over 100 coaches from Estonia and 33 more European countries attended the event. Dejan Cikic and Marko Stojanovic were the main FIBA Europe coaching instructors, conducting both on-court and off-court sessions
The on-court sessions focused on basic basketball skills such as passing, off-ball screens or offensive set plays, while the off-court sessions discussed general principles and strategies appropriate for this age group.
The Clinics materials of the U14 Get-Together are constantly updated to keep up with the latest direction in which the game is going, in order to help players in this age group adapt to the version of basketball that is aligned with their generation.
This year therefore, special emphasis was placed on techniques that will help players adapt to the heightened physical demands of the modern game, with specific sessions on strength and conditioning during practice, as well as injury prevention.
The event concluded with a presentation by the Estonian Basketball Federation that included a Q&A session, an interactive session led by FIBA Europe and a panel discussion with the experts.
