DOHA (Qatar) - The Philippines have been crowned the eFIBA Season 4 World Champions, claiming the biggest title in international e-basketball in Doha, Qatar on Saturday, July 4.
This marks the nation's first-ever eFIBA World Finals title, cementing their place among the elite of the global e-basketball scene, after finishing in 4th place in the last two World Finals hosted in Sweden and the Philippines.
Miguel Carlo Hubillar was named the eFIBA Season 4 World Finals TISSOT MVP after averaging 24 points, and 7.4 assists per game. His outstanding performances throughout the tournament, particularly in the Grand Finals, were instrumental in his team's title run.
The champions enjoyed an almost flawless journey to the title. They advanced through the Group Stage with victories over France, Germany and Algeria, securing a place in the upper bracket heading into the playoffs.
Their dominance continued in the double-elimination playoff bracket, where they defeated again France in the upper bracket final (2-1) bouncing back after losing the first game of the series.
The Grand Final showcased world-class competition between the best two teams of the tournament, the Philippines and Türkiye. Team Philippines did not allow any room for a surprise and confirmed they condition of favorite by winning the Grand Finals by an overall of 3-0 in the series.
Alongside TISSOT MVP Hubillar, the All-Star 5 of the competition was also announced. Joining point guard Hubillar from the Philippines in the All-Star 5 list was small forward Kenneth Gutiérrez, and power forward Joshua Machado. Mecit Can Boy as shooting guard from Türkiye and center Medhi Ben Sethoum from France completed the All-Star Five lineup.
