KOROR (Palau) - The Palau Basketball Federation (PBF) is proud to present its new national federation logo, a design that beautifully encapsulates the spirit of Palau and the excitement of basketball, just in time for hosting the FIBA 3x3 Youth Nations League as a part of the Pacific Mini Games.
This redeveloped logo is a significant step in the federation's rebranding efforts, showcasing a visual identity that is both contemporary and representative of the basketball community in Palau.
This new logo concept reflects both the basketball community and the broader Palauan country and community through its thoughtful design and colour choices.
The prominent use of light blue for "PALAU" and "BASKETBALL," along with the darker blue outline above it, strongly connects to the ocean, a vital part of Palauan life and culture. The yellow within the basketball motif evokes the moon, a ubiquitous element in the Pacific, and hints at the vibrant energy of the game.
The basketball itself is stylised as a half-circle, reminiscent of a rising moon or a protective embrace, which can symbolize the unity and support within the basketball community. The lines on the basketball are not typical, realistic seams, but rather more abstract, potentially echoing traditional artwork or patterns native to the region.
Overall, the logo conveys a sense of national pride and identity, subtly weaving in elements that resonate with the history of tradition and connection with the ocean, all while clearly identifying the sport. PBF believe it's a modern representation that respects cultural roots while looking forward with a dynamic feel appropriate for basketball in Palau.
