From signing new coaching staff and announcing preliminary rosters to confirming training camp details, some of the twelve teams heading to Abidjan for the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket have been ensuring that things go according to plan.
In the blink of an eye, the 12-nation tournament will be just a month away from tipping off.

When and where will the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket tournament take place?
For the first time in Women’s AfroBasket history, Côte d'Ivoire will host the tournament.
It is scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 3 at the Palais des Sports Treichville in Abidjan.
Which teams are competing?
The following 12 nations have qualified for Abidjan 2025: Angola, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Sudan, and Uganda.

The Women’s AfroBasket never lacks talented players willing to help their national teams reach new heights. Some of these players enjoy success at the club level around the world.
Nigeria chases historic mark in FIBA Competitions
No team in the world has won five consecutive continental titles in the last two decades. However, the D’Tigress of Nigeria are looking to become the first.
Since placing third in the 2015 tournament, Nigeria has won the 2017 tournament in Mali, the 2019 tournament in Senegal, the 2021 tournament in Cameroon, and the 2023 tournament in Rwanda.
Nigeria won the last four Women’s AfroBasket titles undefeated, accruing a 23-0 record. No team has ever come close to this record in FIBA competitions in the last two decades.
World Cup qualification on the line
