PRISTINA (Kosovo) - The Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF) has worked with the FIBA to provide an innovative workshop for clubs to improve their digital marketing strategies, brand identity and fan engagement.

The Federation initially benefitted from the FIBA PLUS initiative four years ago when developing its strategic planning process. Since then, the plan has been implemented and has positively contributed to the growth of basketball in the country.

FIBA PLUS actively provides support for National Federations looking to grow the sport and is the umbrella for all FIBA National Federations Development initiatives. FIBA PLUS is also an integral component of FIBA's strategic priority - Empower National Federations

Taking it to the next stage with this new project, a two-day FIBA PLUS workshop for clubs in Kosovo was facilitated alongside the KBF General Assembly.

The workshop is the first of its kind, with participants from clubs in the first and second divisions of both the men's and women's leagues, with a number of specialists delivering presentations throughout the workshop.

The digital marketing strategies covered social media marketing, email campaigns, SEO for club websites and digital advertising to drive revenues.

In terms of helping clubs build a strong brand identity, there were lots of discussions and ideas around the importance of branding, logo design, uniform design and creating a consistent brand image across all marketing channels.

When it came to growing engagement and community building, attendees shared techniques on how to connect with fans, create memorable experiences, and build a loyal fan base that promotes solidarity and fair play.

Kosovo Basketball Federation President Arben Fetahu commented: "The Federation has benefitted immensely from FIBA PLUS. Initially by obtaining invaluable experience and know-how in preparing the country’s basketball development strategy, then later extending our knowledge to our clubs.

"This two-day interactive training session with club representatives is the latest in a series of activities taking place under the FIBA PLUS. It serves both the Federation's strategic objective of club empowerment while also being greeted with great enthusiasm by the participating clubs, who will expect to see the benefits in the years to come.

"We will work with the guidance we have received from these FIBA PLUS programs on our new basketball development strategy for 2026-2030, which will guide our efforts and activities in the future."

FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak added: "Supporting the growth and professionalization of clubs is a key priority for FIBA, and the workshops in Kosovo are a vital part of this mission. With the main focus on branding, marketing, and fan engagement, we are helping clubs build stronger connections with their communities and elevate the sport across the region. This collaboration reflects our commitment to empowering clubs and federations to achieve lasting success."
