Groups set for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers Second Round

    There are 12 spots at the Final Round to be decided

    There were three competition draws that took place, in total, on Tuesday.

    MUNICH (Germany) - The next steps on the road to FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 were mapped out on Tuesday with the draw completed for the Second Round of Qualifiers.

    The ceremony was held at the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, and was followed by draws for the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers, and FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division B.

    FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers Second Round

    24 teams were split into six groups of four teams each, to lay out the path ahead of two windows taking place in November 2026 and February 2027.

    The groups for the Second Round are as follows:

    Group I: Türkiye, Montenegro, Poland, Israel Group J: Spain, Czechia, Croatia, Bulgaria Group K: Italy, Slovenia, Latvia, Austria Group L: Serbia, Greece, Slovakia, Netherlands Group M: France, Great Britain, Ukraine, Luxembourg Group N: Germany, Hungary, Portugal, Denmark

    The top two teams in each group will qualify for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027, alongside the four co-hosts Belgium, Finland, Lithuania and Sweden.

    The hosts of the Final Round were also assigned to their respective groups for next year's tournament. Lithuania will be in Group A; Belgium in Group B; Sweden will host Group C, and Finland are in Group D.

    FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers First Round

    Meanwhile, the journey to FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2029 had its first milestone with the First Round draw of the Pre-Qualifiers.

    There are 10 participating teams - that did not progress to the Second Round of the 2027 Qualifiers - and they were drawn into two groups of three teams, and one group of four.

    The results are as follows:

    Group A: Switzerland, Iceland, Ireland, Azerbaijan Group B: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Cyprus Group C: Romania, Estonia, North Macedonia

    FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division B

    Finally, the 19 teams participating at the FIBA U16 Women's EuroBasket 2026, Division B, were split into three mini-tournaments.

    The three hosts were assigned, and approved at last week's FIBA Europe Board meeting with three promotion spots to be determined by the winner of each tournament.

    Tournament 1 (Groups A and B) will be played in Slovakia (Piestany); Tournament 2 (Groups C and D) will be held in Luxembourg (Grengewald or Betrange) and Tournament 3 (Groups E and F) will take place in Greece (Ioannina).
