MIES (Switzerland) – Over 276,000 young people from 122 countries have been positively impacted through Basketball For Good programs in 2024. These impressive figures headline the newly published 2024 Basketball For Good Impact Report by the FIBA Foundation, now available online.
This latest edition reflects the Foundation's sustained impact around the world and reaffirms its commitment to using basketball as a powerful tool for positive change.
2024 was another record-breaking year for the FIBA Foundation, marked by key milestones across its Basketball For Good programs.
A significant 145 community projects were supported, while more than 680 Basketball For Good events and festivals were delivered in 2024 by the FIBA Foundation and its wider community.
To support and spread the Basketball For Good movement across the globe, 255 Basketball For Good Change-Makers were equipped with the tools to use basketball as a vehicle of positive change.
These accomplishments would not have been possible without the support of the FIBA Foundation’s global partners, PEAK and Molten, who respectively donated 8,000 pieces of equipment and 6,500 basketballs.
FIBA Foundation's flagship initiative, the Propose a Project platform, has encountered great success with a record number of applications received and projects supported in 2024. 58 projects received support in the form of grants, equipment, or mentoring, resulting in 64,000 people impacted across 50 countries.
Last year, 31 youth leaders were empowered through the Foundation's Youth Leadership Program, bringing the overall total to 155 since the program’s establishment in 2018. During that year, these Change-Makers delivered 45 Basketball For Good projects within their countries.
In collaboration with the FIBA Regional Offices and the National Federations, 86 Mini Basketball educators were equipped to further develop the movement in their communities. They were able to put into practice their learnings at the two Mini Basketball Conventions organized in Denmark and Madagascar.
Various Community Impact projects were organized across the globe in partnership with different stakeholders, such as Olympic Solidarity to organize Basketball For Good festivals or the National Federations for the Her World Her Rules program.
The Hoops for Health project in Seychelles successfully completed its third and final year. On that occasion, the FIBA Foundation refurbished a community court for the first time.
