FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 hosts finalized

Belgium and Sweden will join Finland and Lithuania as co-hosts of FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027.

ISTANBUL (Türkiye) - The FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 hosts have been finalized, with Belgium and Sweden officially joining Finland and Lithuania as the organizers of the 41st edition of the event.

Antwerp, Belgium and Stockholm, Sweden were selected as host cities for the Group Phase by the FIBA Europe Board on Thursday, during its November meeting in Istanbul.

Finland and Lithuania were already announced as FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027 hosts last year, with Espoo and Vilnius their respective destinations for the June 16-27, 2027 event.

The candidatures of Belgium and Sweden were approved after the bidding process was extended to accommodate additional interest.

The enormous interest in women's basketball in Belgium and Sweden has been evident through record-breaking attendance figures.

Belgium set a new all-time high during their FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers fixture versus Lithuania with over 10,000 fans in Antwerp. Similarly, Sweden holds the third highest mark ever in the Qualifiers with 9,425 fans in Stockholm for their home game against Latvia in 2023.

"We are incredibly pleased to add Belgium and Sweden as co-hosts for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027," said FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa.

"Together with Finland and Lithuania, we now have four outstanding hosts to deliver a truly memorable event. Their combined experience, passion for the game and commitment to the growth of women's basketball will ensure an incredible tournament in 2027."

The Group Phase action will take place across the four cities, with the Final Phase played in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius.

"FIBA Women’s EuroBasket is a celebration of women's basketball and we are very happy to be able to extend its reach across the continent with four different hosts," said FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak.

"It is particularly inspiring to see such strong interest from our National Federations, which will help to ensure our flagship competition is hosted under the most favorable conditions."

The 2027 edition of the competition will be the second time the event is hosted by four countries, following the introduction of the multi-host format for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025, which will take place in Czechia, Germany, Greece, and Italy.
