MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA was among the standout participants at the 37th edition of the renowned Sports Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), that took place at the EBU headquarters in Geneva.
The Sports Assembly gathers sports media executives, broadcasters and industry experts to explore the challenges and opportunities within the field.
FIBA, long established as the holder of some of the world’s most desirable sport media properties, reaffirmed its strong partnerships with Europe’s leading sports broadcasters.
The occasion was also perfectly timed to help build momentum within the industry ahead of the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers, that tip off in November.
FIBA Media and Marketing Services Director General Frank Leenders along with FIBA Media Managing Director Andrew Ryan presented FIBA’s vision for a closer collaboration with the EBU, whose members play a pivotal role in bringing basketball to the homes of viewers all across Europe through their coverage and storytelling around FIBA events.
Meanwhile Gustavo Arellano, Head of Commercial Development at FIBA Media and Marketing Services, joined a panel discussion on artificial intelligence in sports broadcasting that aimed to explore how technology can boost fan engagement and storytelling.
The event also served as the perfect opportunity for a FIBA delegation to deliver an onboarding session for new broadcasters that focused on FIBA’s production process and the coverage of upcoming events.
The strong ties between FIBA and the EBU were further confirmed with the Sports Assembly’s opening day concluding in the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, as FIBA hosted a networking event for all participants.
