Spanish fans to benefit from unprecedented depth and breadth of basketball coverage.

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA has agreed on a partnership with Movistar Plus+ in Spain, granting the broadcaster exclusive pay television rights for FIBA tournaments through to 2029.

The agreement brings FIBA events to the biggest pay television platform in the country, with fans able to watch action from all major FIBA events and qualifiers on Movistar Plus+, including the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.

In addition to the World Cups, Movistar Plus+ subscribers will get access to all FIBA Continental Cup competitions in 2027 and 2029, which include the FIBA Women's EuroBasket, along with the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 plus its qualifiers.

The deal also incorporates the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men and Women - the decisive last stopping points on the Road to LA 2028.

While Movistar Plus+ will feature an expansive portfolio of games, there will naturally be a strong spotlight on the Spanish national teams, with both looking to continue their tradition of challenging for the podium across world and European events.

Unbeaten 2-0 Spain are set to resume their FIBA World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers campaign

Subscribers can enjoy the Movistar Plus+ coverage without delay, with the agreement tipping off for the second window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers which begin on February 27 when Spain face Ukraine in Riga, followed by a home game against the same team in Oviedo on March 2.

Spain women's team will also be on show shortly when they head to San Juan, Puerto Rico next month for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments where they will face USA, Italy, New Zealand, Senegal and the host nation, in what promises to be an absorbing competition.

This Movistar Plus+ agreement highlights the considerable choice of FIBA basketball coverage now available for consumers in Spain.

It complements broadcasts of the Spanish national team basketball and other selected key games by TVE through FIBA's four-year deal with the EBU, as well as FIBA’s direct-to-consumer service Courtside 1891, which is carried on DAZN alongside their other major basketball properties.

Spain flew high at FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 title to take silver and now they turn their attention to the World Cup.

Coverage of FIBA competitions will also strengthen and expand the Movistar Plus+ platform's basketball portfolio, which already includes FIBA's EuroLeague Women, as well as Liga Endesa and selected NBA games available via DAZN.

Frank Leenders, Director General of FIBA Media and Marketing Services, stated: "We are very pleased to welcome Movistar Plus+ as our newest media partner in Spain, and we are excited to be tipping off this important collaboration immediately with the World Cup Qualifiers. This agreement also demonstrates the exceptional broadcast position that FIBA has within another highly significant market."

Enric Rojas, Sports Director of Movistar, added: "Announcing this agreement with FIBA represents a strategic milestone for Movistar Plus+. For the first time, we are adding the leading international national team competitions to our offering, with two World Cups and two EuroBaskets already confirmed, and with a strong focus on the Spanish national team.

"This agreement significantly strengthens our commitment to basketball. In addition to FIBA's international competitions, our portfolio includes the EuroLeague and FIBA's EuroLeague Women on our own channels, as well as the Liga Endesa and the NBA through DAZN. We have never offered so much basketball on a single platform. Today, we can confidently say that all basketball is on Movistar Plus+."

This agreement was negotiated by FIBA Media, the strategic partnership between FIBA and DAZN.
