MUNICH (Germany) - The leadership of FIBA Europe welcomed the newly elected officials of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation in Munich on Thursday.
FIBA Europe President Jorge Garbajosa and Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak met with President Mindaugas Balciunas and Secretary General Dominykas Domarkas, who were accompanied by FIBA Europe Board member Darius Gudelis.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between FIBA Europe and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The discussions emphasized the importance of cooperation, with a particular focus on advancing women's basketball.
Lithuania has been a proactive host of numerous basketball events recently, including back-to-back FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket tournaments. This commitment will culminate with the country hosting the FIBA Women's EuroBasket in 2027, marking a significant milestone for women's basketball in the country.
The leaders discussed additional strategies to advance women's basketball in the region, particularly the growth and development of the Women's Baltic Basketball League, which serves as a platform for enhancing opportunities and supporting the development of female athletes.
This meeting underscored FIBA Europe's dedication to building stronger connections with National Federations and expanding basketball opportunities at all levels.
