The President and Secretary General of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation visited the Munich headquarters.

MUNICH (Germany) - FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak hosted the management team of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB) in FIBA Europe’s offices on Monday.

FLBB President Samy Picard and FLBB Secretary General Pierre Rodenbourg discussed with Mr. Novak several options for a closer collaboration between FIBA and the federation of the Benelux nation, where basketball is experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity.

Furthermore, Mr. Novak and the Luxembourg delegation discussed topics related to youth development and local projects, with a special focus on the bidding process and requirements for potential FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2029 host candidates.

Luxembourg are off to a 2-1 start in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2027 Qualifiers, hoping to advance to the Second Round and ultimately qualify for the flagship tournament.

That would be a milestone of historic proportions as Luxembourg have won the FIBA Women's European Championship for Small Countries on two occasions, but have never played in the biggest competition of European women’s basketball.
