FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Summit reaches new heights in innovation, quality and industry networking

MIES (Switzerland) - The curtain has fallen on the 2024 edition of the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre Summit with more than 130 premium partners from all over the world benefiting from a unique experience.  

Taking place between September 24 to 26 at FIBA's headquarters, the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland, the bi-annual event witnessed delegates attending from right across the basketball industry, including the areas of Approved Basketball Equipment, 3x3 & Outdoor Basketball Equipment and Basketball Software technology.

The three-day event program ensured those present were able to enjoy unprecedented access to an exclusive network of global sports, innovation and excellence, resulting in the exploration of ideas, synergy and knowledge across many areas of expertise.

The visit to the unique Swiss Sports Tech and Innovation Network, in partnership with the world-renowned research university, Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), proved to be inspiring for those looking to develop new and innovative basketball products and services.

Delegates were also given a presentation on the latest commercial developments and strategies of FIBA Media & Marketing Services by Director General Frank Leenders, as well as a presentation on FIBA's development path for software approval. 

Meanwhile, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis delivered a keynote speech about the immense impact and contribution of the basketball industry to the development of the sport.

He said: "FIBA continues to lead the basketball movement globally and a sizeable part of this is the importance of safe and approved products being developed. This is central to securing the growth of the sport for players at all levels of the game - from the grassroots to the elite.

"Basketball equipment is the backbone of the sport, and its importance lies in supporting growth through the integration of technology. We are committed to fostering progress by ensuring that equipment and technology work seamlessly together for success.

"Additionally, while the spotlight is often on the success of our most developed organizations, we must also ensure that these technologies and high-quality equipment are accessible to developing countries."
