MIES (Switzerland) - The FIBA Disciplinary Panel has imposed a five-year suspension on the coach Rimantas Grigas (LTU) from carrying out any function, including as a coach, in any basketball-related activities, in connection with a safeguarding matter previously reported.
The suspension runs from October 27, 2025, when Rimantas Grigas was provisionally suspended, until October 27, 2030.
In addition, the FIBA Disciplinary Panel has ordered Rimantas Grigas to complete a safeguarding course pre-approved by FIBA before the end of his suspension. He will not be permitted to return to basketball-related activities until the course has been completed.
The Panel has also imposed a fine of CHF 12,000.
Throughout the process, FIBA has worked closely with the Lithuanian Basketball Federation and maintained regular communication and cooperation regarding the matter. FIBA has monitored the measures taken and ensured that the appropriate safeguarding procedures were followed.
FIBA acknowledges the conclusion of the process and remains committed to fostering safe, respectful and inclusive environments in basketball and to working with its member federations to promote the highest safeguarding standards across the sport.
