FIBA and Cignal strengthen broadcast partnership in the Philippines

    An extended four year deal has been struck with the broadcaster.

    MIES (Switzerland) - A new agreement has been signed between FIBA and long-standing broadcast partner Cignal, who will continue to provide basketball content on multiple platforms and channels in the Philippines.

    The deal is set to play a role in continuing to help grow the game, reinforcing an already fruitful partnership that will now extend into a second decade, with Cignal having been a FIBA rights-holder since 2017.

    An exciting multi-platform approach for this next broadcast period is expected to maximize the exposure of the sport by showcasing FIBA tournaments to both traditional television audiences and fans who prefer to consume basketball digitally.

    Ciganl covered the historic FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 which Philippines co-hosted.

    Cignal has consistently delivered eye-catching ratings for FIBA events, particularly for games featuring Gilas Pilipinas - the Philippines' men's national basketball team - which are among the most-watched broadcasts in the country.

    Most notably, they previously provided extensive and impressive coverage of the hugely successful and historic FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, which was co-hosted by the Philippines and saw the Final phase of the competition being held in the country.

    The new four-year agreement includes Free-to-Air, Pay-TV, and OTT rights, ensuring that FIBA competitions are accessible to viewers right across Cignal’s major platforms and channels.

    Gilas Pilipinas games are amongst the most watched broadcasts in Philippines.

    FIBA basketball will be broadcast on Free to Air Channels One Sports & RPTV, Pay TV Channels One Sports+ & PBA Rush & Available via OTT on Pilipinas Live, Cignal Play & Cignal Super. The Pilipinas Live app will also offer Video on Demand for all FIBA games, plus exclusive curated content, including game & player highlights. 

    Cignal will broadcast games from all of FIBA's major events and Qualifiers. This will include not only the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 but also the 32nd edition of the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, which will be hosted in the Philippines in 2027.

    Philippines will host the next edition of FIBA Women's Asia Cup in 2027.
