The initiative, held during the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 in Leon, brought together young talent and local coaches under the guidance of renowned instructor Walter Roese.

LEON (Mexico) – As part of its commitment to the growth and development of basketball across the region, the FIBA Regional Office in the Americas, in collaboration with the Mexican National Federation (ADEMEBA), organized a players and coaches development camp during the FIBA U18 AmeriCup 2026 in Leon, Mexico. The camp was held at Universidad La Salle Bajío and was led by Walter Roese, an experienced coach with a background in U.S. collegiate basketball (NCAA) and the NBA Academy. The program was conducted across two sessions: Friday, June 5, in the afternoon, and Saturday, June 6, in the morning. Throughout the camp, participants engaged in a variety of activities focused on player development and coach education. This initiative provided young athletes with an opportunity to enhance their individual skills while giving local coaches access to modern teaching methods and training concepts designed to support long-term player development. The camp forms part of FIBA Americas' ongoing efforts to strengthen basketball throughout the region by creating educational opportunities and promoting the exchange of knowledge among players, coaches, and basketball organizations.
