BEIRUT (Lebanon)- Eleven participants, including two women participated in the WABC Level 1 clinic conducted by the FIBA Regional Office-Asia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia recently.

The clinic was hosted by the Cambodia Basketball Federation from June 16-21.

“I gained new experience to use in training my students in my hometown. More understanding of how to train and prepare basic stances to train them for upcoming competitions,” said Ros Rothana.

“Participating in the FIBA coaching course Level1 was an incredibly valuable experience for me,” said Vatana.

“Throughout the course, I gained deeper knowledge of the game of basketball—not just in terms of technical skills, but also in areas such as team management, player development, modern offensive and defensive systems, and how to plan effective training sessions. One of the most important things I learned was how to build a structured coaching philosophy, focusing on both the physical and mental development of players,” he said.

“The course also emphasized the importance of communication, leadership, and creating a positive team culture.”

“Participating in the FIBA coaching course has been a valuable and inspiring experience for me as a coach,” said Chhay Dara.

“Throughout the course, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge, develop my leadership, and gain a deeper understanding of the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of basketball coaching. I learned how to design structured game plans, read in-game situations better, and make more effective tactical adjustments. I now have better tools to assess individual player needs, improve their fundamentals, and guide their growth over time.”
