BEIRUT (Lebanon)- The FIBA Regional Office-Asia recently conducted back-to-back WABC Level 1 coaching clinics in Jordan. Amman hosted the clinic from Oct 17-22, 2025 followed by the one at Irbid from Oct 23-28, 2025.
The clinics – both conducted by Marwan Maatouk – organised under the aegis of the Jordanian Basketball Federation each had 13 participants.
“The WABC Level 1 Coaching course served as an invaluable window into both the theoretical and practical aspects of basketball coaching, enriching me with essential technical, tactical, and managerial skills that form the foundation for any aspiring coach,” said Amjad Jbara, who attended the clinic at Irbid.
Jbara’s coursemate at Irbid Ibrahim Alnaser said: “The WABC Level 1 Coaching Clinic was not only a great refresher but also an enriching experience that provided valuable new insights.”
“This course has significantly enhanced my coaching abilities—particularly in organizing and managing training sessions. I gained a deeper understanding of how to effectively apply the coach’s window and teaching points during practice, as well as how to adapt my methods to suit different age groups. It also strengthened my grasp of player development, focusing on outcomes and performance,” he added.
“My participation in the FIBA Coaching Clinic provided valuable knowledge and practical insights,” said Lilyana Abu Jbarah, one of the two womento attend the clinic atAmmanClinic.
“The content in the manual was well-structured and enhanced my understanding of coaching concepts,” she added.
FIBA
