Americas representatives confirmed for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments

    The top six teams from the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 have secured their spots in the World Cup Qualifying Tournaments, set to take place in March of next year.

    SANTIAGO (Chile) – The six national teams from the Americas that will participate in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments were confirmed during the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 and the first day of the Classification Round. Brazil, Argentina, the United States, and Canada won their Quarter-Final matchups and automatically clinched their berths to the Qualifying Tournaments. The following day, in the 5th–8th Place Classification Games, Puerto Rico and Colombia claimed the last two spots by defeating Mexico and the Dominican Republic, respectively. These six teams (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and the United States) will join host nation Germany, as well as Czechia and Hungary, who earned their places by winning the Pre-Qualifying Tournaments in August 2024. Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, and Türkiye are also set to compete in the Qualifying Tournaments as the top five finishers at the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025. The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 Qualifying Tournaments will be held in March 2026, featuring 24 national teams spread across four venues, with six teams per group. The top 16 teams from these events will advance to the World Cup. Germany (as host), Belgium (as FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 champions), and the United States (as FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2025 champions) will take part in the Qualifying Tournaments, but all three are guaranteed direct berths to the World Cup.
