OUR SPORT
    FIBA Masters Open

The FIBA Masters Open fosters inclusivity in our sport by recognizing the enduring passion for basketball among the 40+ demographic worldwide. It provides an exciting opportunity for players, men and women, to participate in global basketball and 3x3 events every year.

Part of our long-term strategic vision to grow the sport globally and sustainably, as well as to expand the FIBA Family, the FIBA Masters Open aims to strengthen lifelong participation in basketball by celebrating the passion of players aged 40 and above and to create a structured pathway for continued engagement within our global community.

Demographic trends show an ageing population, so by creating a structured pathway for lifelong participation, FIBA can help foster ongoing connections and increased social engagement with thousands of passionate basketball enthusiasts.

A competitive grassroots tournament, the FIBA Masters Open welcomes teams from around the world across multiple age categories - starting at 40.

To support this development worldwide, FIBA will collaborate with National Federations to build or reinforce Masters programs at the national level, sharing guidance and best practices.

    FIBA Masters Open 2026

The first-ever FIBA Masters Open will take place from July 4 to 12, 2026, in Corinth and Loutraki in Greece. The event is expected to welcome over 200 basketball teams and 3x3 teams in two distinct competitions, with age categories beginning at 40+.

Games will be played on quality indoor courts featuring wooden flooring, air conditioning, and welcoming spectator areas. Competitions will benefit from experienced officiating crews to ensure a professional and enjoyable environment for all participants.

The event is designed as a summer celebration of the masters basketball community. Participants can expect an opening moment that highlights lifelong involvement in basketball and a closing celebration that brings everyone together to share the achievements of the week.

A festive atmosphere will accompany the event throughout, with social gatherings, entertainment, opportunities to meet fellow players from around the world, and dedicated activities in the evenings.

Beyond the court, the location offers the perfect setting for a memorable holiday. Families and friends can discover ancient landmarks, enjoy the beaches, explore local culture, taste Mediterranean cuisine, or join outdoor activities ranging from boat excursions to mountain adventures. The combination of competitive sport, community spirit, and the charm of Greece will make this inaugural edition a unique experience.
