LOS ANGELES 2028 OLYMPIC GAMES
The LA 2028 Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament will be held in July and will feature 12 nations. Winners of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 will qualify directly, as will the USA* as the host nation.
In the lead-up to LA 2028, there will be a FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament with eight teams taking place in August 2026, with the winner qualifying for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments to be played in early 2028.
The qualification pathway for the LA 2028 Olympic Games continues to uphold FIBA’s commitment to universality, guaranteeing that each continent is represented in the Olympic field.
WOMEN'S OLYMPIC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT LOS ANGELES 2028 QUALIFICATION
A FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament will take place in August 2026. The event will feature 8 teams that did not qualify for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026. These teams will compete in two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Semi-Finals and Final. The winner of that tournament will qualify through to the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2028.
The FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2028 will have 16 teams competing, including the winner of the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2026**.

FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2027: 4 highest ranked teams
FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027: 4 highest ranked teams
FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027: 6 highest ranked teams
The FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will feature four tournaments of four teams, where the three best teams, including the host team (USA*), will qualify for the Olympics in Los Angeles 2028.
